  1. Put your desired amount of peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Set the microwave on high and place the bowl inside.
  3. Set the timer for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  4. 30 seconds in, check to see if the mixture has already melted. If it hasn’t reached your desired consistency, feel free to put it back in the microwave and keep checking every 30 seconds.
  5. Stir the melted mixture to achieve a smooth consistency.

Via Stovetop

Another way you can soften this spread is by using your stove. Yes, it might seem like a bit of work, but it definitely does the job. For kids who wish to try this out, make sure to have an adult to supervise you at all times.

  1. Place a saucepan or non-stick pan over low heat.
  2. Once the pan is already on the stovetop, scoop your desired amount of peanut butter and spread for even melting.
  3. Continue spreading the mixture until it starts to melt.
  4. Watch as the mixture liquefies. When the oil starts to separate from the solid particles, mix it again.
  5. Wait for the mixture to melt completely.

In a Blender or Food Processor

You might be thinking, “a blender isn’t going to melt my peanut butter.” You couldn’t be more wrong. While this is not necessarily the first choice for many people, this truly works well in a pinch. This is perfect if you’re using the nutty spread for marinating meats or even pouring over desserts or in salad dressings.

  1. Place the desired amount inside a blender or a food processor. Make sure to put the food directly on the bottom or at the blades of the machine. This way, your blender or your food processor can melt it well.
  2. Next, add a small amount of water. A few tablespoons can loosen up the mixture, but this amount will depend on the amount of spread you wish to soften and melt.
  3. Pulse the mixture together until it achieves a slightly liquid and watery consistency. Keep checking every 5 to 10 seconds.

With a Bowl and Ladle

The bowl and ladle technique yields perhaps one of the creamiest and smoothest consistencies you have ever seen.

  1. Start by placing the spread in a heat-resistant bowl. Doing so ensures that the bowl will not crack even with high heat.
  2. In a separate saucepan or a non-stick pan, heat up a liquid of your choice over medium fire. This can be water, cream, milk, almond milk, or even chocolate milk depending on the recipe you wish to make.
  3. Bring this mixture to a boil.
  4. Once the mixture has reached its boiling point, pour the liquid into the heat-resistant bowl using a ladle. Stir and whisk until the peanut butter becomes liquid and melts completely.
